ComKerb WA back in 2012 was relying on a legacy quoting system that required manual calculations, printing from a serial printer, and no capacity for reporting. The client already used the Microsoft Office 2013 suite extensively and elected for an Microsoft Access based solution.
Over the course of several weeks, ComKerb WA were up and running with a solution that allowed them to:
- Store Customer information for use on quotes
- Keep history of multiple quotes against the Customer
- Automatically calculate concrete amounts and labour for different types of kerbing
- Product a PDF quote that could be saved, printed, and e-mailed
- Report on quotes for a given time period
The Bear Bytes do what they do for that look on the clients face when they realise how much sooner they wish they did something like this. We saved the client hours and they couldn’t get over how much better the e-mailed PDF quotes with branding looked over the ribbon printed black & white ones.
Whilst we don’t always recommend Microsoft Office based solutions, this was the right tool for the job to meet budget, time, and usability constraints.
